Thermostatic Steam Traps are balanced pressure devices that use vapor pressure, within a diaphragm or bellows, to open and close within the trap body dependent upon the surrounding temperature.

Float & Thermostatic traps are available in three distinct types:

The Parallel Series (also known as ‘H-Pattern’ is most commonly available in 3/4″ to 2″ sizes.

The In-Line Series is compact and is most commonly available in 1/2″ to 2″ sizes.

The High-Capacity Series is designed for high-pressure applications and is most commonly available in 2″ and greater sizes.

Thermodynamic steam traps (also called disc traps) uses the higher kinetic energy of flash steam over water to close the trap with static pressure. As condensate enters the trap, it lifts the disc and discharges out three individually-ported outlet holes. The three outlet holes assure the vertical lift of the disc is parallel to the seat so no rubbing or tilting of disc is possible.

The “Barnes & Jones/Edison Element”, called a Cage Unit, is a self-contained thermostatic repair unit that is designed to repair thermostatic steam traps without taking the trap body off line. Cage Units  are 100% factory calibrated and tested, under live steam and condensate, to insure uniform operation in the field.

Similar to other types of steam traps, a Float & Thermostatic (F&T) repair is an easier and more cost-effective solution than replacing the entire trap in the line. Most of the time, the body is fine and it’s only one of the interior parts that is faulty.

Keystone carries Float & Thermostatic head assemblies that can repair most, if not all makes and models of steam traps, up to 125 PSI.

Coils are heat-transfer devices – whether they use steam or hot water as a media to transfer heat to an air stream; or whether they use cold water to transfer coolness to an air stream. Eventually, they will corrode or erode and need to be replaced.

As a rule, like should be replaced with like. Let Keystone help you get a matching replacement coil based on your existing dimensions.
