A Steam Trap Survey is a process in which an on-site audit of your steam traps is conducted, with the overall purpose being to determine which traps are faulty, resulting in both steam and monetary loss. Keystone Steam Supplies is able to conduct on-site steam trap surveys, ensuring you aren't throwing away valuable dollars on energy on broken steam traps.
A Steam Trap Survey has three main objectives:
Locate, tag and identify as many traps as are reachable within the premises without undue risk to the surveyor(s).
Test those traps which are in service using an ultrasonic steam trap leak detector.
Prepare and submit a report, which will:
Identify the location of each trap found.
Identify the size, manufacturer, type and model number of each trap found.
Identify those traps which have failed, those which require close monitoring (ie. some steam leakage but not critical), those which are operating within normal parameters, and those which are not in service (N.I.U.).
Suggest possible repair/replacement parts for each trap where required.
Provide a repair/replacement cost per trap (material only).
Provide any additional details encountered during the survey, which may impact upon the survey (ie. ceiling mounted traps which are inaccessible, traps behind immovable furniture, locked rooms, etc.)
Provide a cost analysis on steam wastage through any faulty traps. This includes the loss per day in terms of both steam and $$$ value, repair cost material and labour, and how long it will take to recoup the cost of repair.
How to Request a Steam Trap Survey
Identify how many steam traps you have on-site and record the number. If possible, identify if any steam traps will be difficult or impossible to access. You will need to know this before moving onto step #2.
Contact Keystone Steam Supplies and let us know of your requirements. Steam Trap Surveys are available for businesses located both within and outside of the GTA. However, for businesses outside of the GTA, all expenses (travel, accommodations, meals, etc.) will be added to your invoice.
